Letter from the President

Welcome to the Retired State Employees Association (RSEA) website.  The  mission of RSEA is to advance the quality of life of current and future retired state employees who have given their talents to the State of Louisiana.  Whether you are retired or an active state employee, I encourage you to utilize the resources on our website.  More importantly, I ask that you join RSEA and take an active role in advocating for retirement security.  There is great strength in numbers and as our organization grows, we truly are making a difference in the lives of current and future retirees.

Since 1966, RSEA has campaigned aggressively to pass worthwhile legislation  and to defeat action adverse to the best interests of current and future retirees.  Our committment to protect pension checks and ensure that retirees have affordable and effective health care has never been stronger.

RSEA has ambitious goals because it is absolutely critical that we fight for our retirees as well as our active members.  We must protect health and retirement benefits, and secure cost-of-living adjustments (COLAs).  Many retirees are living below the poverty level and have not received a COLA in several years.  RSEA speaks to the legislature and the public on behalf of both current and future retirees to voice our concerns and present our significant needs.

RSEA also strives to reduce or eliminate costly federal social security offsets, and to keep our members informed of the most current issues and activities affecting current and future retirees on both the state and national level.

Also, we encourage social interaction among members  and present opportunities for community service.  RSEA has nine regional chapters around the state and meetings are held each spring prior to the start of the legislatives session.  Additionally, each fall the Annual Statewide Conference and Expo is held.  Both the chapter meetings and annual conference give members a chance to interact, share informaiton, and join forces to support retirement issues.  Click  here for chapter meeting details.  Click here for conference details.  We invite both current and retired state employees to join us for these important events.  Find more information about the unique benefits offered to RSEA members here.

Thank you for visiting our website. Let us know if you have questions about retirement or suggestions on how we may serve you better. Please call us at 1-866-938-0961 or in the Baton Rouge area at 225-930-0961.

Sincerely,
Benny Harris
